The Nielsen Company announced today the U.S. launch of
Presentation Builder – Homescan, a software tool that creates and automatically updates client
presentations with Nielsen’s latest consumer shopping information.
“Virtually all our manufacturing and retail clients are frequently called upon to deliver presentations
within their companies and within their industries,” said Janice Linnane, vice president, product
leadership, Consumer Panel Services. “Creating and updating presentations with the latest data can
be time-consuming and keeping track of the correct version can be confusing. Presentation Builder is
an easy-to-use tool that helps create structured consumer-based category reviews for specified
markets and retailers leveraging the Nielsen Homescan Syndicated Suite.”
The industry-leading tool provides users an in-depth view of the market by pulling information from all
the Nielsen Syndicated Homescan databases, with key insights on categories, shoppers and brands.
Presentation Builder - Homescan automatically shows companies their top competitors, the top
product groups within a category, the locations where shoppers are buying or where business is
being lost to competitors, and conversion opportunities.
Nielsen Homescan is the industry's only multi-outlet panel that captures all consumer package goods
purchase information, as well as non-UPC coded random weight perishable products. The Nielsen
Homescan panel is demographically balanced to represent the household population and uses
patented, state-of-the-art, in-home bar code scanners to capture purchases made in every type of channel, including warehouse clubs, convenience stores, supermarkets, drug stores, computer
stores, mass merchandisers, mail order and the Internet.
“We are delighted to introduce this exciting technology to optimize our syndicated Homescan
information for our clients,” Linnane said. “Homescan offers an unmatched depth of consumer
purchase information, and Presentation Builder will help clients quickly capture and update that
information for use in their presentations and decision-making processes.”
