The Retail C.O.D.E.™ Approach

Overview
The Retail C.O.D.E.™ approach is a systematic process for developing scalable and repeatable localized retail strategies and has proven to lead manufacturers to increased category growth.

This strategic approach provides a deeper understanding of the consumer around a given individual store, measures the gap between actual and potential demand, offers an execution roadmap at the store and cluster level that will realize the potential upside that other methods don’t often identify, and measures the ongoing success of your implementation.

The Retail C.O.D.E. is comprised of the following steps:

  • C: Consumer Behavior & Marketplace: Measure marketplace dynamics and capture the demographic profile of the category, brand, and product’s consumer.
  • O: Opportunity Identification: Identify store-level opportunities based on measurement of consumer demand potential.
  • D: Dynamic Clustering: Group similar stores using multiple store attributes, including shopper demographics, the competitive set, and upside opportunity.
  • E: Execution & Measurement: Execute store-level strategies based on steps one through three and measure the results.

How the Retail C.O.D.E. Works
The Retail C.O.D.E. approach is a process that was developed to meet the diverse needs of manufacturers seeking superior retail execution. It consists of the accumulation of Nielsen value-added data, proprietary analytics, and consulting expertise. The Retail C.O.D.E. is not a solution or service on the whole, but is the process we use to guide scalable retail strategies combining our solutions and services to optimally meet client needs.

Each client is different and the Retail C.O.D.E. offers structure with the flexibility to leverage all of our capabilities to answer whatever the client issues at retail are. Retail C.O.D.E. projects are performed on an ad hoc basis. Our retail experts will asses the client’s specific business issues and create a custom solution using the Retail C.O.D.E approach methodology and our best-in-class analytics and consulting expertise

As an added feature, Retail C.O.D.E. projects now include the ability to track results through a Decisions Made Easy software solution.
