| The closer you are to the in-store environment…The closer you are to the consumer.
Sales and household purchase data provide a wealth of insights to CPG manufacturers. And with the addition of Market Decisions Observation Services (Scantrack and Custom), these insights are greatly enhanced by giving you the ability to see what the consumer sees in-store and helping you successfully merchandise your brands and categories.
ACNielsen Market Decisions collects custom, observable conditions, at the store level, within our Scantrack and non-sample stores. Because the types of observations are driven by you and your needs, this service can help you assess a variety of in-store conditions including:
- Shelf location/facings
- Trade compliance
- Sales force effectiveness
- Out-of-stocks
- Pricing
- Product distribution
- Display information
One of the unique and powerful elements of the Scantrack Observation Service is the collection of in-store insights within our Scantrack sample stores and the ability to compare sales rates for observed conditions.
The Custom Observation Service offers tremendous flexibility in the types of outlets visited (for ex. liquor and hardware) and the specific time frames and frequencies that observations are collected.
Observation Services help you:
- Determine the quality of your distribution and quantify the sales impact of shelving location and incremental facings.
- Uncover promotion compliance in your key accounts and ensure better alignment with your retail partners.
- Discover if secondary locations are present at checkout or other locations and determine the impact on total sales.
- Optimize shelf management strategies to minimize
out-of-stocks and maximize facings and adjacencies.
Scantrack Observation Service
Client-driven observations are collected by ACNielsen’s experienced field force during pre-scheduled weekly causal visits within the Scantrack grocery, drug, mass merchandiser and convenience store sample.
Through the integration of Scantrack volumetric data with specific store observation data, you will receive consistent, accurate and statistically representative measures of in-store conditions. You will also receive an analysis of sales rates by specific store condition (for example, number of facings, display presence, shelving location, secondary locations, etc.), which can explain its specific impact on product and category sales.
Some examples of questions answered by Scantrack Observation Service are:
- What is the quality of my distribution in terms of facings, shelf location, and fair share of shelf?
- What was promotion compliance in key accounts with respect to display types and locations during specific promotion periods?
- What in-store conditions have positive and negative impacts on my brand’s sales
Delivery:
ACV-based projected store conditions are available via ACNielsen Workstation or Microsoft Excel. Market and account-level projected store conditions can be compared to your sales databases via NITRO.
Custom Observation Service
Client-driven observations are collected in any outlet, at any time through a custom field force. The available outlets include food, drug, mass merchandiser, convenience, liquor, hardware or other specialty retailers.
Through this service, field auditors work exclusively on your particular project and can collect a broad variety of observations during custom time frames and frequencies.
Some examples of questions answered by Custom Observation Service are:
- How do my out-of-stocks vary by day of the week?
- Do outlets like liquor and convenience stores carry my product on the shelf and/or at the checkout?
- Was my special display placed in these specific retailers and is my product/brand stocked exclusively in the display?
Delivery:
You will receive hard copy or Microsoft Excel output for all observed measures/facts for the total sample, by market and by retailer. Store level data can also be provided. And when observations are collected in multiple waves, trended information is available.
